Ahoy Everyone from Sidney, BC, Canada!
We're considering upgrading from our Catalina 30 to a 1986 Moody 376 and would greatly appreciate any opinions and guidance regarding the shroud's chainplates and bulkheads on this model. We've done deck sounding tests and found potential water intrusion, but the cabinetry prevents us from inspecting further. Could anyone help with the following please?
1. Does anyone have photos of how the chainplates and bulkheads look behind the cabinetry and their exact locations?
2. Where would be the best place to create an inspection opening in the cabinetry, and would a round or square shape be more advisable? Photos anyone?
3. Can anyone provide instructions on how to remove the cabinetry? Photos anyone?
4. Are the wooden boxes or bulkheads where the chainplates attach connected to both sides of the boat, or are they isolated to hold the chainplates? Photos anyone?
5. If the wood is damaged, is it fixable by replacing the wood and glassing? How big of a project is this, and has anyone done it?
We really appreciate all the guidance possible, as this is the only point left in our checklist before making an offer.
Warm regards from Victoria, BC, Canada,
