I am looking to buy the above described boat and I have questions:
1) the keel bolt heads have a lot of rust. I have read in other threads here that they are 24 mm diameter and this is robust to last performing their intended purpose. My question is does anybody know about a keel bolt failure on any Moody in the past? If there have been problems with keelbolts, how has this been dealt with.
2) I noticed there are drip stains below all the port windows. Can this be fixed with replacing the rubber gaskets on the acrylic or must the frames be removed to reseal them?
3) I have noticed saltwater came in through the aft lazarettes, both port and starboard into the aft cabin. This water is supposed to drain into the bilge I believe, but the volume of water in rough seas overwhelms the drains. One solution I see is to add additional scuppers on each side of the deck in front of the hatches for the lazarettes. Is there access to put in bigger drains at the lazarette bottoms to drain the water? Should there be bilge pumps in the lazarettes to clear the water overboard? It seems to be a drainage design flaw on the deck and the scupper in the lazarette hatch flange.
4) There is water under the Vee Berth that appears to be coming from the chain locker. There is a wood hatch that does not look adequate to stop water but it does not have water stains. Is there a remedy to this problem that is accessible to do?
5) There is accumulated water under the head sole and also the shower sole. They both look like fiberglass shower pans. The shower sump and pump do not look like they are in the correct location. The head sole has no drainage. What can be done to remedy these problems?
I will appreciate your prompt reply to my questions.
