Alouette is a 1989 Bilge Keel Moody 33 Eclipse. The twin helm positions offer extended sailing opportunities thanks to the greater weather protection and the bilge keel gives access to more rivers and inlets. With berths for six in the two cabins and lounge Alouette is a genuine family cruiser.
She has benefitted from extensive refurbishment over the past few years since coming to Christchurch from her previous home in Plymouth.
As you would expect from such a classic Moody, designed by Bill Dixon, she has proved to be a very reliable and well made boat.
Originally owned by the Commodore of Plymouth Sailing Club she enjoyed regular crossings to the Channel Islands and France and apparently the whole family regarded these trips as a genuine 'lark' – hence the name Alouette.
I have also made several single handed cross Channel trips and she is a joy to sail in safety.
She was re-engined with a new and economical Yanmar diesel about 14 years ago which is in very good working order with low hours. This is a vast improvement on the poor Volvo engines that were originally fitted.
In the past seven years she has been re-upholstered and had a number of new items including fridge, microwave, electric toilet, LED lighting, Raymarine navigation equipment, AIS, autohelm, remote windlass, Vetus bow thruster, new in-mast furling main, new furling genoa, new stainless standing rigging, new hatches, new spray hood, bimini and new cockpit tables.
Unfortunately for the past two seasons she has had very little use over for health reasons.
The overall condition is well above average for the year. She comes complete with all equipment and spares including diesel heating, inflatable dinghy and fenders.
Currently moored in Christchurch, Dorset, Alouette will need to be thoroughly detailed and antifouled before the start of the season.
There is a lot more information but I hope this gives you an initial idea of this sought after Moody deck saloon.
Priced at £54,950
