Moody 35 Is this 6 tonne bilge keel strong enough to go aground?

I understand the Moody 35 bilge keel has a dry weight of about 6 tonnes and have been told that repeated grounding may result in structural damage to the keels. I guess this would be more likely with a choppy sea and hard sea bed. Whilst I accept that this could potentially be a problem for any bilge keel yacht and care needs to be exercised, does anyone have any knowledge or experience of the Moody 35 being more susceptible due to its weight and construction?

Justin, I will chip in but ours is a M31 rather than the 35. In cruising trim we weigh 5100 kgs and dry out regularly, indeed we deliberately seek out those off the beat places fin keels can't go. This is with the proviso that its calm and we won't pound whilst drying out or lifting off.

Some of our pictures are on the Visit My Harbour for Keyhaven, one of our favourite locations, but please don't tell everyone about it ;)

Regards

Pete
